Hands Up

Volunteer with us

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, ages and experiences. The majority of our visitors need support with basic digital skills so you don't need to have expert level digital skills in order to help. We especially welcome applications from people with any kind of teaching, guidance or coaching experience - this could be in any role.

We have three roles for volunteers at the digital hub:

Digital Support Volunteer

This is a role supporting visitors to understand and use their devices. You need to be able to use a smartphone, tablet and laptop computer, and to be confident using the internet.

Online Tasks Support Volunteer

Some of our visitors are not digitally confident but need to access online services for day-to-day tasks. This role is to support these visitors with online tasks, helping them to find the information they need, register for services, and fill in some simple online forms.  Some additional training may be offered.

Digital Skills Workshop Leader

Each week we offer a workshop so that visitors can learn and practice new digital skills. If you have confidence in a specific area of basic digital skills, and are a good communicator, you could volunteer to deliver one of our workshops.
